Solar Powered
Powered by the sun with 24/7 uptime. Oversized 5w solar panel and 5,000mAh LiPo battery power the super efficient RAK 19007 WisBlock radio. Less than an hour of sunlight per day is needed to keep the battery charged, with plenty of capacity to carry you through extended stormy days with no sun. For convenience, you can also charge the battery via the waterproof USB-C connector when not deployed.
Long-Range Mesh Communication
When installed strategically, high above the ground, the Beacon extends your Meshtastic network by miles, relaying messages over tough terrain where line of sight is difficult to maintain between mobile nodes alone.
Awesome piece of kit. Well made, well packaged, fast shipping. Everything is as described and works excellently. I LOVE that this isn’t just an antenna slapped onto a weatherproof project box, a lot of thought went into it.
Some of the properties that attracted me to the Beacon are the off-the-chart deployment options of the frame. The radio enclosure. And, most importantly [to me] the power button is a hard switch. If you need GPS, your position may be cashed in the mesh, but your station has relocated [scoop & scoot].

I've had it up for a few weeks now, through rain and sun. Had no issues and the external antenna for Bluetooth allows me to configure it even in my house. I've had other nodes from other sellers that had issues switching between solar and battery power, but this one is flawless.
Picked up the beacon to act as a mobile relay node on top of my car. Mounted to my roof rack using some unistrut. Rock solid construction, versatile mounting options. Easy to adjust the angle for best solar capture as well as antenna placement. Battery has stayed above 90% most times, only dipping below when we had a couple straight days of heavy clouds and rain. And my unit may be slightly more power hungry having the environment sensor and gps installed. Love the thought that went into designing this unit, and would be happy to add more to my mesh as I need them.
