WisMesh Tag SOTF Radio

The WisMesh Tag is a little gadget about the size of a credit card that lets you send text messages and share your location with your friends when there is no cell signal at all. It works with a free app on your phone, and it arrives already set up. Just charge it, turn it on, and you're connected to your group.

How it works

Each Tag talks directly to the other Tags in your group by radio, like walkie-talkies do, but for text messages instead of voice. Your messages also get passed along from Tag to Tag automatically, so the more friends who carry one, the farther your group can reach.

The Tag connects to your phone the same way wireless earbuds do. You read and send messages in a free app on your phone (iPhone or Android). When a message comes in, the Tag chimes and blinks so you don't miss it.

Common questions

Do I need cell service for this to work?

No. That's the whole point. The Tags talk to each other directly by radio. No cell towers, no internet, no service plan.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. You buy the Tag once and that's it. The app is free too.

Will I be able to text other Sisters?

Yes. Every Tag from this page comes set up on the private "Camping" channel shared by Sisters on the Fly. Any Sister with one of these Tags in radio range can see your messages on that channel, and nobody else can. It's like having your own private group text that works without cell service.

How far does it reach?

It depends on the terrain. Across a campground is easy. In open country you can reach for miles, while hills and heavy trees shorten that. And remember, every friend carrying a Tag helps pass messages along, so a group covers much more ground than one Tag alone.

Does it work with my phone?

Yes. The free app works on both iPhone and Android, and connecting is as simple as pairing wireless earbuds.

Does it have a screen?

No. You read and type messages on your phone, which means no tiny buttons and no new gadget to learn. The Tag chimes and blinks when a message arrives.
