Assembly

Although assembly may appear to be self-explanatory, the sequence of component assembly is important due to how the components fit.

❗ Before starting, make sure there is a foam strip installed in the case on the left battery retainer wall.

❗ If iPEX cable is installed, remove it from the case.

❗ Remove ID cubes from case to avoid dropping them during assembly.

  1. Slide the BLE antenna into the space above the battery compartment, with the wire-side facing up, towards the GPS antenna compartment. Make sure BLE antenna is pushed all the way to the right. (Removing adhesive backing is optional.)
  2. Install Battery. Confirm the power switch is in the OFF position. Straighten wires on battery. Orient the battery so the wires are coming out of the top-left side of the battery. Insert the left side of the battery first, hooking it underneath the foam-padded battery retainer wall. Push the right side down so the battery is flat against the back of the case. Battery will be snug.
  3. Connect the battery to the switchboard. Tuck wires into available space so as to not interfere with WisBlock installation.(Confirm your battery is reverse polarity. The positive/red wire should be on the right.)
  4. Install the RAK19007 WisBlock with (3) screws included with your WisBlock, while making sure the BLE antenna cable is laid down parallel to the power cable, passing underneath the WisBlock.

  5. Snap the LoRa antenna iPEX cable connector to the WisBlock where labeled "LoRa". The antenna cable should point towards the "8 o'clock" position.
  6. Rotate the iPEX cable counter-clockwise and insert the SMA connector through the hole on the top of the case. Make sure to allow the cable to rotate naturally so there is no torsion in the cable.
  7. Place a toothed washer, lock washer, and nut on the SMA connector and tighten, while making sure the SMA connector is fully seated in the hex pocket under the antenna hole.
  8. Fit antenna cable between power connector and RAK4630. It should also bypass the BLE connector.
  9. Connect BLE antenna iPEX connector to WisBlock where labeled "BLE". BLE cable should cross over the LoRa antenna cable.
  10. Connect power cable from switch to the power input on the WisBlock. Tuck wires tight against connector.
  11. Install (2) alphanumeric identification cubes in desired orientation. (If you have trouble removing cubes, you can use a paper clip to pull up from underneath the cubes through the available slots on the interior of the case.)
  12. Install Lid, making sure the battery retention tower doesn't interfere with the LoRa antenna wire. Secure with provided (4) M3x10mm bolts using the provided 2.5mm allen key.
  13. Install SMA antenna.
